Many clients and families may wonder why transitioning into the community is so important. From a larger scale perspective, it is key to note the McCall Centre is an extension of Trillium Health Partners. When safe transition into the community is delayed for current clients at McCall Centre; other eligible clients are caught in acute care settings which contributes to the prolonged wait times at the Trillium Health Partners acute care sites. Some interesting facts and statistics:
- Trillium Health Partners is one of the busiest hospitals in Ontario
- Over 1.6 million patients’ visits last year
- Last year Trillum Health Partners performed 63,230 surgeries, delivered 8,634 babies and cared for 270,929 patients in our Emergency Departments (ED) and Urgent Care Centre
- Has experienced higher than normal numbers of Alternate Level of Care (ALC) patients
- Last year Trillium Health Partners had an average of 166 beds that were occupied by patients who could receive care outside of the hospital
